The mayor and council of Manchester began their meeting June 10 by honoring and acknowledging staff of the Manchester and Pine Mountain Regional libraries. It was noted that despite budget cuts, the library systems were thriving with events. Pine Mountain Regional services Meriwether, Talbot, and Upson county and plan to expand with a library in Luthersville soon. Cynthia Kilby, Angela Handler, Willie Leonard, Chelsea Crowder, Jenna Whatley, and Patty Willis were some of the individuals recognized Tuesday evening. "A city without a library is a city that suffers," noted Mayor Mark Trimble. "These people really care about what they do. They are very important for our city."

A port terminal controlled by SAAM Terminals, Florida International Terminal (FIT), has attained Level 1 Certification under the Green Marine Program after making significant progress in 2024. The certification reflects FIT’s transition from a registered participant in 2023 to a terminal officially accredited for its environmental performance. Eduardo Cabrera, FIT’s Senior Health, Safety, Security, and Florida International Terminal has also been recognized for diligent monitoring of all pertinent regulations, proactive measures to reduce community exposure.
