PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear AAENP Colleagues,

Happy New Year - 2024! Your AAENP Board of Directors is already hard at work focused on executing initiatives aimed to support and elevate nurse practitioners providing emergency care in diverse settings. Recently, the Board experienced changes in leadership roles. I would be remiss not to recognize the diligent and visionary leadership of Immediate Past President, Dr. Wesley Davis, who led AAENP briskly forward from the pandemic to groundbreaking strategic initiatives. He leaves a legacy of sustainable outcomes in addition to numerous other accomplishments throughout his Presidency.

Under the skillful, organized, and no-nonsense leadership of Past-Chair, Dr. Paula Tucker, we gained clarity and direction necessary to fulfill fiduciary duties as board members. Our newest board member, Dr. Lisa Leonard, joins the Board in 2024 with crucial knowledge and experience gained from her service as a member and then Chair of the AAENP Finance Committee. Other changes in your leadership include transition of Dr. David House to the role of Board Chair and movement of Dr. Bradley Goettl to the role of President-Elect. Lastly, I am honored and thrilled to serve as your AAENP President for 2024 and 2025.

We have much to look forward to during the first quarter of 2024. Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of AAENP’s 10th Anniversary celebration at EmergNP 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 15 – 17. The theme of the conference is “Climbing Higher Together.” The 2024 conference committee has invested significant time and commitment to assure educational content of quality and significance to ENPs. For our members desiring more procedural and hands-on learning, make sure to attend the Pre-Conference day on March 14. Also, be alert for an upcoming announcement to apply for service on two inaugural AAENP committees - the Nominations & Elections Committee and the Awards & Scholarship Committee. The launch of these committees represents a first step of our organization to a formal election process for leadership positions and awards.

Please stay safe and be the reason for upward excellence and success of the ENP.

Yours in committed service,

Melanie Gibbons Hallman, DNP, CRNP, CNS, FAEN, FAANP, FAAN

President, American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners
