This is a one-year (Fall 2023-Fall 2024), cohort-based program developed to assist participants in building a professional community of association peers and to enhance individual leadership skills. Approximately 20 professionals will be invited to participate per cohort, with the aim of including a wide representation of the association community in each cohort. Please see the full program outline below. If you are new to the wonderful world of associations, this program has been built exclusively with you in mind!
And, CEOs - Elevate your association by supporting your staff. This program is also a great tool for executives to encourage their staff members to apply and participate!

Women’s Forum: Women Empowered, Building a Community
|
By Marissa Lopez, CAE
Association Executive, Executive Director Incorporated (EDI)
Women’s Forum Chair
On behalf of the Women’s Forum Planning Committee, I invite you to save the date for this year's Women's Forum on September 19 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Milwaukee. The goal for this second annual Women’s Forum conference is to expand on the success of the inaugural event held last September. In surveying our members, we learned about some of the key topics of importance to them which helped shape the program for this year’s event. The theme is Women Empowered: Building a Community. In designing the program, we wanted to ensure that it is diverse in representation, expertise and opportunities for our members to participate as speakers, moderators and panelists.
Our aim is to increase opportunities for attendees to participate and engage with one another in a space that is diverse, inclusive and balanced, building on the theme of community.
We encourage women and allies from early career to senior management and executives/CEOs to attend this conference, as there will be topics relevant to all professional levels and key takeaways for every attendee. Plan to leave reenergized, empowered and with new tools for success!

Recruiting, Retaining Top Talent Requires Proactive Approach
|
By Kyle Geissler, CAE
Vice President, Wisconsin Broadcasters Association
WSAE 2023 Board Member
There’s no single solution to the recruitment and retention challenges leaders are currently facing, but a proactive approach to talent management can set the stage for success.
Dawn Tryba is a professional business coach who spoke at the WSAE Live @ The Osthoff event on May 23. She shared her expertise with a room full of association professionals seeking advice on talent management.
All sizes of association organizations are affected by the current talent shortage. About 75 percent of associations feel understaffed. Employers are noticing a skills gap, greater competition for candidates and higher turnover resulting in a never-ending onboarding cycle.
While there are some simple steps leaders can take to address the talent shortage, the many simple steps must be part of a wider, and more dynamic cultural and leadership enhancement to make your organization stand out to the right candidates, and remain the obviously best option for your current high performers.
