Call for AAENP Board of Director Applications
AAENP is currently seeking qualified candidates to serve on the Board of Directors. Please consider submitting your application if you are skilled in the areas of strategy, finance, service and/or education.
Board Members for the 2022 – 2025 session will begin service in November 2022, must maintain consistent AAENP membership and commit to:
- Attend all in person and / or virtual board meetings including regularly scheduled monthly board meetings.
- Provide leadership support for assigned AAENP committees.
- Serve as liaison to partner organizations as appointed.
- Support and attend national educational events.
- Attend an in-person Board meeting in Nashville, TN on November 11-12, 2022
If you are interested in supporting nurse practitioners working in emergency care settings, please submit the following electronic documents to the email below no later than Friday, August 12, 2022 at noon CST:
- Your curriculum vitae or resume, highlighting previous AAENP involvement
- A letter of interest that promotes your personal strengths & qualifications for a national level Board Director position

We are pleased to announce that we are relaunching our Special Interest Groups (SIG) and are reaching out to you to join a SIG. SIGs provide networking opportunities, promote partnership with other organizations, and inform and support AAENP initiatives. SIGs provide an opportunity for members to suggest position statements, share collective interests and concerns with the AAENP BOD so your voice is heard.
The current SIGs that are available are:
- Acute Care
- Prehospital/EMS
- Program Directors
- Urgent Care
- Wilderness Care
- Student
If there is a SIG that you would like created, please reach out to the SIG Co-Chairs Nycole Oliver and/or Diane Switzer.

AENJ/AAENP Journal Club
The next AENJ Journal Club will meet Tuesday, August 9, 2022, virtually from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. PST (8 pm EST) on zoom. Moderators will be AENJ Associate Editors, Dr. Wesley Davis and Dr. Nicole Martinez. We will send you the link next month to two recent AENJ authors. These authors will discuss the following articles:
Davis, Kristina A. (2021). Takosubo cardiomyopathy: An ST-elevation myocardial infarction mimic. Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal, 43(1), 48-52.
Milo, Razel B. (2022). Differential diagnosis of lesions. Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal, 44(1), 23-28.

AAENP member accomplishments highlighted at the National AANP conference in Florida
Congratulations to several AAENP members who were honored at the 2022 AANP National Conference held last month in Orlando, Florida. For state leadership and advocacy efforts, President-Elect Melanie Hallman received the Alabama AANP Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence & Vermont State Rep Emily LeVan received the Vermont AANP Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence.
